David Gidley 1939 - 2011

Born in Camberwell in 1939, the eldest child of Robert & Daisy Gidley developing a love of motorbikes, gardening and country music. At 15 he moved to Tottenham, where shortly after he started his career in Carpentry. In his spare time he was involved in a variety of sports including cycling and darts, changing to bowls in later life. He married Veronica in 1966 and moved to Whetstone, where a year later had his first daughter, Ruth. The family then moved to Muswell Hill, an area he stayed close to for the rest of his life ,moving again only short distance to Hornsey. In 1978 he had a second daughter, Tracy. Although diagnosed with Arthritis in his 40s he remained active only leaving Carpentry in his late 50s and semi-retiring. He deicide to turn to his passion for scooters and join his daughter working in Pizza Hut, as a driver, which he did until his arthritis would no longer let him. Until his death he enjoyed helping medical advancement doing so by aiding his local hospital with Doctor training. Although he wasn’t able to get around as much in later years he remained close to many people’s heart’s and will be sadly missed.
